Seven tips for stress management

Today we are talking about stress management. Although managing daily stress may seem like a modern form of “battle”, it is actually one of our oldest defense instincts.

However, the defenses that our ancestors relied on against the dangers of the world (overactivity and stress) are currently making us weak and sick.

The American Academy of Family Physicians (AAFP) in the United States has therefore developed a series of stress management tips that can help calm the mind. We can especially use these tips when we feel that something is overwhelming or threatening to overwhelm us.

The stress of the current world

The world we live in is changing rapidly and creating new situations. It is therefore not uncommon for us to blame others for putting pressure on our lives.

Very often, however, we have to blame ourselves because we often take on more than we can handle. This can lead to a feeling of being crushed by the high expectations we impose on ourselves.

In other words, we want to be perfect in everything and this increases our daily stress. A few stress management tips to fall back on could help us deal with stress better.

When we can’t take it anymore , our body activates its self-defense mechanism, which can eventually make the problems worse. How many times have we tried to work faster to try and lower our stress levels.

When we overwork ourselves day in and day out, rest doesn’t even help anymore. Little by little we start to feel that we can’t take it anymore. This can lead to worry, anxiety and excessive tension. Stress is unable to keep everything under control so physical and psychological problems arise.

Tips for stress management

When everything becomes too much for us, we can resort to the following stress management tips:

  • Exercise : A healthy way to manage daily stress is to exercise. When we exercise we have no stress and endorphins are also released.
  • Eat healthy : Junk food is one of the worst ways to manage daily stress. If you are hungry, eat fruits and vegetables. A natural and balanced diet with five well-distributed daily meals leads to better well-being.
  • Sleep well : When we sleep well, our minds will be clearer and more alert to face daily challenges.
  • Meditation : This relaxation technique, like others like it, can help us lower our stress levels. They are based on deep and conscious breathing to help us release tension.
  • Self-Control : We must be aware that we cannot control everything. When we are aware that we are not in control, we gain more control over ourselves.
  • It is better to tackle problem by problem : you have to solve problems one by one and start with the smallest problem. We need to find a solution and once we get the situation resolved, move on to the next one.
  • Realism : Being realistic is undoubtedly the best way to manage everyday stress. The more we know ourselves, the more aware we are of our capabilities and limitations.
